Position Summary
The STS Base Manager/Technician is a pivotal dual-function role critical to the success of our local operations in Egypt. This position is split between hands-on technical maintenance of our specialised STS equipment and the management of relationships with our local partners. The successful candidate will be the on-the-ground expert, ensuring all equipment is maintained to the highest standards of safety and reliability, while also acting as the company's representative to ensure our local partners adhere to our stringent STS operating procedures and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Duties & Equipment Management (Technician Focus)
The incumbent will be directly responsible for the maintenance, testing, and integrity of all STS equipment, including:

• Fender Maintenance:
o Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and testing on STS fenders.
o Perform pressure checks, cage maintenance, tyre changes, and chain connector changes.
o Execute chain section replacements and safety valve testing.
o Conduct greasing of fendering wires and monitor their condition, reporting monthly with mooring master assistance.
o Replace fendering hardware (shackles and swivels) as necessary.

• Hose Maintenance:
o Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on STS hoses.
o Perform end plate maintenance and end plate fastener maintenance.
o Carry out hose testing and inspections as per schedule.
o Conduct rubber repairs on hoses and fenders under specific instruction

•Inventory & Facility Management:
o Maintain optimal stock levels of all STS-related equipment and conduct regular stock control checks.
o Ensure all STS equipment is stored according to company policy, maintaining a clean, safe, and organised base facility.
o Complete and submit monthly reports on equipment condition, maintenance conducted, and stock levels

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:
• Proven hands-on experience in a technical maintenance role, preferably within the maritime, offshore, or heavy equipment industry.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in maintaining heavy-duty equipment (e.g., hydraulic systems, large-scale marine fenders, hoses, and rigging).
• Knowledge of and experience with wire rope, shackles, swivels, and other marine hardware.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams.
• Competency in using standard office software (Word, Excel, Email) for reporting.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective partner management.

Desirable:
• Formal qualifications in mechanical engineering, marine engineering, or a related trade.
• Previous experience in a Ship-to-Ship (STS) operation.
• Experience in an auditing, compliance, or supervisory role.
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards (OCIMF, SIGTTO).
• Lifting Equipment Inspection Qualification

Working Conditions
• Working will be split between a hands-on role based at our STS equipment facilities in Suez or Port Said and home-based work for clerical duties.
• Will involve working outdoors, in a warehouse environment, and occasionally visiting partner sites/vessels.
• Will require flexibility to work outside normal hours in response to operational needs and unscheduled maintenance. Ability to travel to visit other STS bases operated by STS Marine Solutions and 3rd-party maintenance work for STS Marine Solutions Client services.
• Physical fitness is required for handling heavy equipment.
